" Rainbow Tree " a study

This is a study of a beautiful and imperfect Rainbow Tree on a remote estate, not far from where I live. The flowers of this tree are so delicate, opaque and varied in color...they are as fragile as say Butterfly Wings... it would amaze you, I imagine unlike few trees most people have seen in their lives. My approach to this delicacy was to take it in a general sense, keeping the paint loose and the eyes soft. It is the nature of this marvelous tree to create a soft colorful flowering effect, that to examine it more succintly would perhaps be more of a didactic act rather than a native response. The loss of the tree's animation through a more relentless study would usurp it's loveliness...I found that out as the tree insisted such as I worked.
