My cat Niniku ( Knee-knee-kuu = little garlic in Japanses ) captured this tiny finch, probably as it enjoyed the Cosmos in our garden. I was doing the domestic thing ( laundry... here we still hang our laundry outside under the lovely sun, in the fresh air...clothes on a line are not considered a public eye sore here but a natural thing ) rounding the corner of the house when I spied the deceased little bird. It reminded me of a painting I once saw in Frankfurt's Art Museum of a little bird; that painting struck me and a vowed to take advantage of the opportunity should it ever arrive. This was a difficult task as the little body rotated dramatically as rigormortis set in...here in Hawaii things decay very very rapidly, as fast as they grow. Before I knew it I was struggling to recall what was the original view and I found myself battling time and nature as I have never before. It's my first one. I'm waiting for another bird to paint, it has to happen naturally, I love them and could not capture one for the sake of my painters desire.
